Taxing Mildura more, and giving us less
Daniel Andrews is taxing Mildura more, and giving us less, The Nationals Member for Mildura Peter Crisp said.
“Again the State Budget proves regional Victorians can’t trust Daniel Andrews and his Melbourne-centric Labor Government,” Mr Crisp said.
“Mildura has been duded by Daniel Andrews with no major capital projects or new initiatives for our region.
“With all of Labor’s new taxes, Victorian households are paying around $2000 more but we’re getting nothing in return.
“Mildura Base Hospital missed out on any new funding, and there is no extra support to help tackle the ice scourge in our region through drug rehabilitation and family support services.”
”Labor has also let us down again with road funding, with mentions of only minor works on the Calder and Sunraysia highways.
“And despite calls for it to be restored, Labor has again neglected to fund the $160 million Country Roads and Bridges Program.
“It’s also disappointing to see Labor has $87 million cut from our rural and regional school upgrades.
“Given Melbourne’s rapidly expanding population and the potential that exists in regional centres like Mildura to benefit from this growth, it is also astounding that Labor’s Budget doesn’t contain funding or initiatives for a Victorian Population Plan.
Mr Crisp said Labor’s lack of investment is in stark contrast to past Liberal National governments that delivered major initiatives for Mildura’s benefit like the Murray Basin Rail Project, the Sunraysia Modernisation Project, Mildura’s riverfront development and the Robinvale P-12 development.
