Crisp Welcomes Cancer Centre
Member for Mildura Peter Crisp has welcomed the announcement a private consortium is moving ahead with plans to establish a radiation oncology centre in Mildura.
Mr Crisp said the facility would bring a sigh of relief to many in the community who are currently suffering the disease, but would be welcomed by many more.
“Unfortunately, we all know someone who has battled cancer, and we know the toll travelling far away for treatment can take on everyone involved,” he said.
“Anything we can do to make an incredibly tough journey just a little bit easier is always a good thing.”
In addition to construction of the ongology centre, Mildura residents will also see an expansion of ward beds at Mildura Base Hospital and construction of a drug and alcohol residential rehabilitation centre in Sunraysia under a Liberal Nationals Government.
“The Nationals believe all Victorians deserve quality healthcare no matter where they live,” Mr Crisp said.
“There will be many lives changed by having local access to an oncology unit, an expanded MBH and a drug and alcohol residential rehabilitation facility.”
