Crisp Spreads Breastscreen Message
Member for Mildura, Peter Crisp MLA, is encouraging all women aged 50-74 to make an appointment with BreastScreen Victoria for a free screening mammogram, even if there aren’t any symptoms, changes or family history of the disease.
The latest BreastScreen Victoria participation statistics for the Mildura electorate reveal that 59% of women aged 50-74 had a mammogram between July 2014 and June 2016. Across the state, the participation rate is 54%.
“I’m calling on local women to prioritise a breast screen every two years, along with other important routine health checks,” said Mr Crisp.
“Due to our ageing population, spreading the word about the importance of regular screening is a crucial element towards reducing breast cancer deaths across the community, it only takes up ten minutes of your day and is with a woman.”
To make an appointment please call 13 20 50 or book online at www.breastscreen.org.au and no doctor’s referral is needed.
