“Our arts sector is an extremely important part of our community and is a strong economic driver, creating jobs and attracting tourism and other economic benefits to regional and rural Victoria,” Mr Crisp said.
The grants are available to support all stages of the creative process, from the creation of new work to regional and international touring and cultural exchange projects.
“As well as providing opportunities for artists, the Arts Victoria grants also aim to provide benefits for the whole community,” Mr Crisp said.
“The Education Partnerships program aims to unlock the creativity of Victorian primary and Secondary school students giving them the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists while the Community Partnerships program gives a whole range of Victorians the chance to get involved with creative projects and make a contribution to their community.”
Applications are open to artists and companies working across all art forms.
The 2012-13 program categories include:
Annual Operations - operational support for arts organisations for the development, delivery and promotion of a 12 month program
Arts Development - supporting Victorian professional artists and arts organisations in the creation, presentation and programming of works
Community Partnerships - collaborations between professional artists, arts companies and community groups throughout Victoria
Contemporary and Live Music Development - supporting contemporary musicians and bands and strengthening the local music sector
Education Partnerships - which supports professional artists and arts organisations to work with primary and secondary school students and teachers on arts projects
International - supports opportunities for cultural exchange, touring and export by Victorian artists and arts organisations, and
Touring Victoria - which supports tours to regional and outer-metropolitan areas.
