Men’s Shed Funding Up For Grabs

The 2017 Men’s Shed Funding Round is now open.

Member for Mildura, Peter Crisp, said grants of up to $60,000 are now available to construct a new men’s shed, redevelop an existing shed or co-locate a shed.

Mr Crisp said refurbishment grants of up to $30,000 are also available.

“Men’s Sheds play a very important role in our rural communities and are one of the most powerful tools we have in helping men to remain valued and valuable members of our community,” he said.

“Most Aussie men have learned from our culture that they don’t talk about feelings and emotions.

“It’s probably largely because of this that many men are prone to suffer more from isolation, loneliness and depression.

“Becoming a member of a Men’s Shed gives a man that safe and busy environment where he can connect with friends and maintain an active body and active mind in an atmosphere of old-fashioned mateship,” Mr Crisp said.

“I encourage incorporated not-for-profit organisations and local councils to apply for this round of funding,” Mr Crisp said.

Applications for grants close on Friday 16 June 2017 and guidelines and application can be downloaded at:
