A commitment by the Nationals to invest another $3 million in continuing improvements at the Mildura Airport highlights its importance to the regional economy.
The Mildura Airport is an essential element in the growth of the region, says Member for Mildura Peter Crisp.
“Parallel scheduling, bigger aircraft and more services make the airport a very busy place at certain times of the day.
“It’s extremely important that facilities keep pace with the annual increase in passenger number of around 8% annually.”
The $3 million investment by a Liberal Nationals Coalition government will fund further improvements to the passenger terminal, including additional toilet facilities, café refurbishment, more seating and enhanced pick-up and drop-off areas, adding to passenger comfort and convenience.
“The investment in upgrading the airport forms part of the $14.5 million economic development package the Nationals announced this week to start construction work on Mildura’s Riverfront Master Plan and support for the private enterprise development of a 300-seat Dockside Marina conference centre and resort,” said Peter Crisp.
